The inflorescences of Aloiampelos striatula var. striatula grow from leaf axils near stem tips. They are unbranched racemes, conical in shape and up to 40 cm long. The individual flowers or perianths are densely clustered in the raceme, somewhat greenish in bud, long and pendulous by the time they open in orange-yellow colouring. The blooming season is late spring to midsummer. The photo was taken in November.

A second subspecies is recognised: A. striatula var. caesia grows more towards the northern parts of the species distribution range. Its greyish green leaves are more compactly together with shorter internodes and its flowers are shorter, straighter and yellow (Van Wyk and Smith, 2003; Jeppe, 1969; iNaturalist).
