This hard to see young Aspalathus setacea plant growing among renosterbos in the Kouga is single-stemmed with erect as well as spreading branches.
The dense leaf covering near the stem-tips soon lose intensity as older stems lose their leaves (Euston-Brown and Kruger, 2023; Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; iNaturalist; https://www.worldfloraonline.org).
