The Aspalathus spinosa subsp. spinosa stem section in picture is thicker where it bears flowers and not only leaves. Most of the flowers are in their last colour, a light reddish brown instead of the peak period yellow.
The wing petals still curve out sprightly, away from the keels. Like the banner petals, all the corolla parts use more "personal" space than the more cohesive petals of many other Aspalathus species. More flowers in picture are positioned sideways than upright with banners at the top.
The buds present promise that this branch will be in insect limelight for quite a few more days still (Curtis-Scott, et al, 2020; Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2015; Pooley, 1998; iNaturalist).
