The flowers of Aspalathus ciliaris grow in small clusters at branch ends, occasionally up to 10 in one group. They are yellow in colour and similar to pea-flowers in shape. The flower is between 1,5 cm and 2 cm long. The banner or standard petal is dominant in size over the other four. This banner has a rounded shape, folded in slightly along its central axis. The lateral or wing petals tend towards an orange colour on the flowers in picture, which may indicate aging of these flowers. The corollas normally become orange as they wither and may even turn black once dried out. The calyx is hairy with narrow lobes covered in characteristic tubercles.

Flowering happens in spring and summer (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2010; Bond and Goldblatt, 1984).
