The short, sessile leaves of Agathosma recurvifolia grow opposite or spiralling up the young stems. They are ovate in shape, tapering to spiny tips that may curve down, hence the specific name of recurvifolia. The small blades are finely hairy, losing this later on top, while their lower surfaces have conspicuous, darker green gland dots.
The entire margins are finely ridged. Crushed leaves exude a turpentine scent. Leaf dimensions are 2 mm to 7 mm long and up to 5 mm wide.
The fruit capsules have one to three segments or carpels, horned as is common in Agathosma. The ones in picture are red, while green on some plants or starting off so (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2015; Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; JSTOR; iNaturalist).
