These stem tips of Acmadenia alternifolia are covered in closely clustered ascending leaves, more so as some new branching is just beginning on some. Lower down the leaves soon become widely spaced, revealing the lemon yellow, young stems.
The dark green (and yellow) leaves are stubby, curving in slightly to their pointed tips. The cluster of flowers nestles below the stem tips in the centre, receiving some protection while not impairing pollinator access.
