Aloidendron ramosissimum flowers

The flowers of Aloidendron ramosissimum grow in one branched inflorescence per leaf rosette in winter. The two or three erect racemes only become about 12 cm to 15 cm long, the central one bearing about 20 flowers, the shorter lateral branches fewer.

The greenish yellow to canary yellow flowers spread and ascend slightly on pedicels of about 8 mm long. Small, pointed and papery thin bracts, triangular in shape and about 5 mm long subtend each flower, as well as continuing below the flowers along the peduncle.

The perianths (individual flowers) are cylindrical to slightly swollen in the centre and short, about 3,5 cm long. The flower mouth is slightly upturned. Three of the anthers are exserted at a time, the inner three first. The style is a pale lemon colour, its stigma exserted 12 mm beyond the segment tips (Reynolds, 1974).
