Aizoon karooicum, sometimes called the Karoo baconfig, is a sprawling, dwarf shrublet, a leaf succulent in the Aizoaceae family reaching heights between 5 cm and 20 cm. The sparsely branched plant becomes woody in its lower branches. It is much grazed.
The species distribution is in the Western Cape, from Bredasdorp to Robertson and the Little Karoo, extending eastwards into the west of the Eastern Cape.
The habitat is semi-arid, quartzitic soil and sandy lowland flats. The habitat population is deemed of least concern early in the twenty first century (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2010; Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; iNaturalist; iSpot; http://redlist.sanbi.org).
