Aizoon paniculatum, commonly known as the pink baconfig, is a sprawling dwarf succulent shrub reaching heights from 15 cm to 50 cm. The plants are covered in soft hairs. Several Aizoon species have earned the Afrikaans name of skaapvygie (sheep mesemb) for its fodder value.

The species distribution is in the west of the Western Cape, along the coast and inland, known in places like the Gifberg, Ceres, Tulbagh and southern Namaqualand. The photo was taken on the mountain near Piketberg.

The habitat is sandy and clayey flats and slopes, often abundant on disturbed ground. The habitat population is deemed of least concern early in the twenty first century (Manning, 2007; Manning and Goldblatt, 1996; Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; iNaturalist; JSTOR; http://redlist.sanbi.org).
