Aizoon paniculatum leaves

The leaves of Aizoon paniculatum are crowded on the stems, their shape lanceolate to somewhat spoon-like. The leaf tips are acutely pointed but not very consistent in shape. The often purple-red margins are entire, again irregular in shape: odd, curves and angles are present, not repeated in any pattern.

The thickly fleshy leaf blades are dark green, unevenly covered in whitish hairs or shiny surface cells. Where the hairs are prominent, they are silvery and sometimes flattened on the blades or erect, particularly on the margins. The upper leaf surface is slightly concave (Manning, 2007; Manning and Goldblatt, 1996; Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; JSTOR; iNaturalist).
