Aloe mawii flowers

The inflorescence of Aloe mawii is a few-branched panicle, the racemes spreading nearly horizontally. Some plants may produce two inflorescences in a season or concurrently.

The orange-red to red perianths point up. They are borne on short pedicels, up to 2 mm long. The bright red perianth colour seen here is unusual. Perianth tips are whitish in picture, also in the bud phase.

The exserted stamens have dark, purple to blue-purple filaments and orange anthers. In picture they are cream and black, maybe young and unripe. The filaments in picture are notably thick, appearing excessive for the size of the anthers.
