Following the established leaves and flowers, the efforts of an Adenium oleifolium plant continue in the production of additional buds when conditions and resource permit. (Do plant and animal action with rest cycles ever include laziness as known among people?)

The bigger bud to the left in picture has assumed a mortar-like shape and off-white colour. This is purely coincidental, not representing any affiliation with humans prone to warlike behaviour. The cluster of smaller buds at leaf bases to the right are still characterised by sepal dominance, reminiscent of hairy cubs of some alien animal looking around.

Adenium sepal lobes are divided to near the base. Open flower pedicels are considerably longer and bulkier than those of emerging buds (Van Rooyen and Van Rooyen, 2019; Frandsen, 2017; Leistner, (Ed.), 2000; iNaturalist; https://pza.sanbi.org).
