The olive-green to greyish white upper stems of Adenium swazicum are bare, swollen with succulence. The stems of the summer impala lily are smooth, apart from slight roughness at the nodes from where old leaves had fallen.
The new leaves grow clustered at stem-tips, i.e. the foliage deciduous (Frandsen, 2017; Smith, et al, 2017; Smith and Crouch, 2009; Onderstall, 1984; iNaturalist).
