Asclepias praemorsa inflorescences are semi-pendulous umbels grown from upper leaf axils and stem-tips. They bear from four to ten flowers.
In picture there are bulging green buds in one umbel where some flowers have already opened. The buds are five-pointed and flat-topped. The seams where the buds will open are in the protruding points of the bud structures, the lines in the dips being the central lobe lines or corolla lobe midribs that don’t show distinctly in the lime yellow open flowers.
There are also two umbels of older flowers in view to the left. These spent flowers are closed again, while their lobes appear buff in colour and papery, distinguishable from the buds (Pooley, 1998; iNaturalist).
