The veins on these Asparagus asparagoides “leaves”, the flattened stems (cladodes) that function as leaves, are almost parallel and conspicuous along the shiny green surfaces.
The cladode blades are slightly wavy, folding in a little along their midribs and arching down towards their tips. The base of the about sessile cladode is slightly asymmetrical, its tip tapering to an acutely angled point. A. kraussianus and A. multituberosus are other South African Asparagus species that have broad cladodes.
This plant was seen in southern Gauteng (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2010; iSpot).
