The leaves, actually false leaves or cladodes of Asparagus juniperoides are small, soft and needle-like. The multitude of spaced but overlapping leaves form fine cylindrical plumes that may be 21 cm long and 3 cm in diameter. The leaf coverings upon the stems taper at both tip and base. The leaf colouring, here pale bluish grey may also be green to dark green.
Small white flowers streaked with green are borne, followed by spherical red berries. The plant is popular among gardeners internationally (Eliovson, 1990; iNaturalist).
