The succulent leaf of Adromischus maximus is oblanceolate, narrowly obovate or wedge-like (cuneate) in shape. The leaf is sessile upon the sturdy stem, tapering to its base. Leaf colour is blue-green to blue-grey. The smoothly entire leaf margins are usually yellow, sometimes red. Horny rims occur along the margins, sometimes only on the upper margins. Leaf tips are rounded, sometimes pointed.

Leaves show mild, variable curvature; the tips curving in, the sides curving down. Leaves become up to 12 cm long and 5 cm wide. The leaves may be spotted, but not on the specimen in picture (JSTOR; iSpot; Bond and Goldblatt, 1984).
