This Adromischus maculatus plant, sometimes commonly referred to as the chocolate drop, presents remarkable leaf colour differences on the gracefully curving shapes. Some big, erect leaves are almost entirely taken by purple blotches, while the youngest leaf, greenish yellow in the centre of the plant, shows even colouring with no spots.
The rounded leaf blade thickened by its succulence has a thin, hard ridge all along its margin to the base. In A. triflorus the ridge is restricted to the straight section of the margin at the broad, flat leaf-tip (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2010; www.llifle.com).
