    The purple or mauve flowers of Cyphia volubilis may also be white or almost pale blue. The plant in picture has small, dark markings at the bases of the three petals forming the upper lip of each flower.

    The tube has a short bulging part where the narrow sepals clutch the corolla base. The striped and ridged buds on the left are not too different in colour from the withering corolla on the right.

    There is a small, narrowly oblong leaf or bract present near the base of the pedicel. It is finely channelled on top with faint gloss and dark purplish margins (Curtis-Scott, et al, 2020; Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2015; iNaturalist).
