The leaves of Cussonia paniculata subsp. paniculata are mono-digitate on long petioles. Each leaflet has a petiolule as well, the picture as much about stalks as about blades. Mono-digitate means that the about eight leaflets do not split a second time, as those of some Cussonia species do.

The blue-grey to grey-green leaflet blades arranged in a fan-shape are smooth and flat, usually with entire margins or some serration near their acutely pointed tips. The large leaf structure may measure up to 60 cm in diameter, each leaflet roughly 20 cm long and 4 cm wide (Coates Palgrave, 2002; iSpot).
