This young Crassothonna capensis plant seen in January has semi-opposite, cylindrical leaves that are smooth and pale blue-green to yellow-green, clearly not stressed by drought or heat. The soft branches nearly trail, later more convincingly when their mass, to be compounded by elongation, succumbs to gravity.

The ray floret tips are strongly curled back here. Open disc florets can just be discerned in the outer ring next to the rays, while the centre is full of floret buds. Flowerheads close in poor light.

The flowerhead bud allows a glimpse of yellow through the bract tips being forced into spreading. Flowerheads are not much taller than the bluntly pointed leaf-tips (http://www.llifle.com).
