Crassothonna sedifolia

Crassothonna sedifolia, the Karoorapuis (Karoo resin, rapuis an antiquated form of the Afrikaans word harpuis meaning resin), is a low-growing, rounded leaf-succulent, a brittle-stemmed shrublet of up to 60 cm in height.

The species is distributed in parts of the Northern Cape and Western Cape, particularly Namaqualand, Bushmanland and the Great Karoo; also in Namibia.

The habitat is arid or semi-arid sandy and stony slopes in winter rainfall conditions. The species is not considered to be threatened in its habitat early in the twenty first century (Manning, 2009; Shearing and Van Heerden, 2008; Le Roux, et al, 2005; iNaturalist; http://redlist.sanbi.org).
