The fruit capsule of Cheiridopsis purpurea in picture does not show the tops of individual locules. The succulent base of the recently withered flower is still large, while much reduced on the old capsule present from earlier flowering.
In this genus the number of locules varies between ten and twenty. There are covering membranes over the seeds and large closing bodies over the locules (Williamson, 2010; Smith, et al, 1998; Herre, 1971; iNaturalist).
