A solitary bud of a Cotula discolor flowerhead towers over a fluffy bed of numerous, small, soft-haired leaf lobes. The ring of mostly whitish bracts have some blackened tips. They fold in over female florets in the outer rows of the yellow disc (Manning and Mucina, 2013: Cotula discolor. African Journal of Botany, 88, 240; iNaturalist).
