Cotula laxa leaves are deeply lobed once or twice, their narrow lobes and rachis or midrib tending to be channelled. Leaves become from 3 cm to 4 cm long and less than half as wide.

The fresh to pale green leaves are soft-textured and sparsely hairy, although hairs are more visible on the dark purple stems. The stems are fleshy and longitudinally ridged (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2010; Le Roux, et al, 2005; iNaturalist).
