The unripe fruit capsule of Cleretum papulosum in picture has a fleshy, red purple upper surface, flat and glossy. The fine ridges upon the capsule top show the divisions among the five locules, a distinctive feature of the genus. This red surface is surrounded by the rounded sepal tips, erect and leaf-like.

Cleretum capsules have large, parallel expanding keels and large valve wings. The seeds produced inside are bluntly triangular and flat (Williamson, 2010; Manning, 2009; Smith, et al, 1998; iNaturalist; https://enjoysucculents.com).
