    These bright green and soft Cyanella orchidiformis leaves grow like those of a healthy maize plant. They are wavy with slightly sunken midribs and longitudinal vein lines upon the blades. The tapering leaves curve up on the plant in the photo. The lower ones are large, while the small, upper ones manage to encircle the stem loosely and not much more at this stage.

    The pedicels of the buds in this very young inflorescence arch like heron necks, darker than their subtending bracts (Manning, 2007; Leistner, (Ed.), 2000; iNaturalist).
