The fruit of Cliffortia falcata is a bulging, nearly globose, inflated capsule. When unripe, it is creamy green, sometimes with fine red spots scattered along its upper parts. On some plants only the three capsule section seams are red in their upper parts.

These seams or sutures are the lines where the capsules will split or dehisce when the seeds are ripe. This happens only after the capsule is dry and has relinquished its red colouring to a uniform pale beige.

The capsule section tips converge in erect, acute points (Privett and Lutzeyer, 2010; iNaturalist).
