Two to three Cotyledon tomentosa subsp. tomentosa flowers are borne on erect, hairy brown peduncles and on longish pedicels in each inflorescence in picture. Five short, pointed sepals clutch the base of each flower. They are hairy, dully darker red than the corolla and brown when persisting on dead flowers.
The flowers aim upwards much more than normally seen for the subspecies. So, there are variations confusing identity in individual plants of the species, as in so many species, inviting debate and searching.
The chunky leaves also display individual differences, mainly in the upper margin teeth that vary in number, size, colour, or in their similarity and alignment on the erect leaf-tips (Smith, et al, 2017; iNaturalist; Wikipedia).
