Crassula lactea, the milky stonecrop, is a perennial growing one to a few compact leaf rosettes on spreading or scrambling branches. In flower the plants may be over 30 cm tall. This plant is closely related to C. multicava.

The species distribution is in the southeast of the Western Cape, coastally and slightly inland through the Eastern Cape to the far south of KwaZulu-Natal. The photo was taken at Natures Valley.

The habitat is mostly the shade of coastal plants among rocks and on rocky outcrops. The species is not considered to be threatened in its habitat early in the twenty first century (Frandsen, 2017; Smith, et al, 2017; Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; iNaturalist; http://redlist.sanbi.org).
