Crassula setulosa flowers and hairy leaves

The flowers of Crassula setulosa grow in terminal, many-flowered, rounded clusters. The hairy and pointed, leaf-like sepals can be seen holding the corolla in the photo. 

The five white petals, sometimes tinged with red, are rounded with tiny narrow-tipped protrusions. The lower halves of the petals form a wide tube or cup; the top halves recurve to a diameter of about 3 mm. The anthers start off pale, becoming purple or brown as the flower develops.

Flowers appear from midsummer to autumn, depending on the form and maybe the region where it is found. This plant was seen flowering early in January.

The fruits are small capsules that release fine, dust-like seeds when they ripen and open (Van Wyk and Malan, 1997; iSpot; www.plantzafrica.com).
