    The upper parts of Crassula rupestris stems are fleshy, but lower down the old stems become woody.

    These plants are said to last for more than 50 years in veld conditions that are not too harsh (Smith, et al, 2017; Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2015; iNaturalist; Wikipedia).
