Crassula perfoliata sometimes grows many erect branches covered in succulent, spear-pointed leaves. Half-channelled, half-twisted sideways, the plant has ancestral complications of note, yet a pleasing aspect for the garden. Many-flowered inflorescences, flattish to shallowly domed, are on their way in the photo. Now still grey, hints of red-coloured petals to appear are present in the secretive buds.

The photo was taken in Australia in a Melbourne garden during December. Who knows what events went before in this plant of this shape ending up Aussie (Frandsen, 2017; iNaturalist).
