The opposite leaves of Crassula sericea var. velutina are succulent, borne erectly on short, thick stalks. The internodes are usually invisible, covered behind the leaves.
The leaf-shape is obovate to elliptic, a flattish disc tapering to sharply angled margins, slightly convex on both surfaces. The leaf-tip is obtusely pointed or rounded, the base tapering. The leaf colour is grey-green lower down, shading to pale brown where the sun has most effect; sometimes more reddish or green than here.
The leaves are more or less covered in short, soft velvety hairs as the variety name, velutina (Latin) indicates (Frandsen, 2017; Williamson, 2010; Le Roux, et al, 2005; iNaturalist).
