Othonna parviflora inflorescence

The August inflorescence of this vigorous Othonna parviflora plant is rightly in proud celebration, boldly presenting itself for all to see. Preferably to visit for a snack. Every flowerhead has a small yellow fringe of rays above the green involucral cups, like an arty, brimmed hat.

Flowerheads that are well spaced here may also be clustered densely together. There are leafy bracts of reducing size on the way up, repeated at all panicle branchings. Flowering happens from midwinter to spring.

The sessile, leaves, dull to dark coloured, curve up and show off their cream midribs against the light (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2010; Manning, 2007; Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; iNaturalist).
