The showy flowerheads of Ochna pulchra grow in racemes at branch ends. The flowers may be pale to bright yellow, sometimes greenish. Each flower opens to a diameter of about 1.5 cm and is pendulous on a long stalk. The flowers are bisexual, flower parts occurring in fives. The petals fall early while the sepals persist and enlarge behind the developing fruit.

This picture shows mainly the remaining sepals around the brush-like stamen clusters with the styles in the centre of each flower (Coates Palgrave, 2002).
