The simple leaves of Ochna pulchra spiral around the stem or are alternate, growing upon stout petioles of up to 6 mm long.

Leaf shape is obovate to elliptic, the leaf tip rounded to tapering (or notched as some in the photo), while the base tapers. Leaves vary much in size; their dimensions 3,5 cm to 18,5 cm by 1,3 cm to 5,7 cm.

Many curving lateral veins ascend from the conspicuous cream-coloured midribs, the veins positioned closely together. Midribs are ridged on both surfaces.

The leaves in the photo have entire margins, although serration of margins of the upper halves of O. pulchra leaves does occur. Leaf colour is pale green to yellowish green and glossy, the texture leathery and smooth, hairless (Coates Palgrave, 2002; Schmidt, et al, 2002).
