The chocolate brown Orbea umbracula corolla in picture shows the transversal wrinkling commonly seen on the pointed lobes. The pale-yellow lobe margins are finely fringed.
The thick, dark brown annulus around the corona is evident in the photo. The five inner corona lobes are erect in the flower centre, usually maroon-spotted. The outer corona lobes spread.
The cylindrical pedicel is thick and fleshy.
There is a still closed, ovoid bud in picture below the open flower, its five protruding ridges visible where the corolla lobes will later part. The pale grey bud surface is streaked pale maroon.
