    The fruit of Osteospermum sinuatum var. sinuatum is a broadly three-winged samara. The rounded wing margins have more purple colouring than near the central column where the seed resides.

    Wind performs seed dispersal aided by these wings that will be dry when the fruit is ripe and less spectacularly coloured than when still green as seen here.
