The pale, slender, upper branches of Osteospermum oppositifolium are soft. The young parts may even be slightly translucent.
The leaf-pairs are well spaced, dense foliage ensured by much branching in the crown. Some leaves curve inwards with slight channelling near the base where the tapered blade meets the stem; the presence of a stalk debatable.
The midrib is whitish, visible on both surfaces, conspicuous against the light (Le Roux, et al, 2005; Manning, 2009; Manning and Goldblatt, 1997; iNaturalist).
