Osteospermum oppositifolium floral stages

Three flower forms are present on the Osteospermum oppositifolium plant in picture, although none of them the flamboyant fully open flowerhead in its prime.

The open flowerheads seen here have a tired, hang-ray appearance, possibly from too low moisture availability.

In the young flowerheads or recent buds present, the erect rays stand foiled, spine-like in a circle around their dark discs, as if performing some cultish rite that will allow them to bloom when the spirits relent.

Spot the few drooping flowerheads for which the exultation phase has passed and fruiting is at hand (Le Roux, et al, 2005; Manning, 2009; Manning and Goldblatt, 1997; iNaturalist).
