Metalasia muricata leaves

The small leaves of Metalasia muricata, commonly the white bristle bush, grow stalkless in tufts, spaced on whitish stems. It is typical to see smaller leaves in the tuft, grown from the axils of older or primary leaves.

Leaf-shape is narrowly lanceolate with acutely pointed tips, sometimes needle-like. The leaves are usually twisted with hooked tips, the blades leathery and their entire margins curving up, the upper surfaces are felted and whitish, the lower ones dark green to blue-green, pale green when young.

The leaves are from 2 mm to 9 mm long (Manning, 2007; Bean and Johns, 2005; iNaturalist).
