Metalasia densa inflorescences

The whitish inflorescences of Metalasia densa growing at branch tips are made up of dense clusters of small flowerheads. Each flowerhead comprises three to five disc florets, encircled by coverings of bracts arranged in several rows. These bracts are erect or spreading; the inner ones petal-like and coloured white or brown, the outer ones papery and pointed.

The inflorescence is slightly convex or shallowly domed to almost flat-topped. Flowering happens in winter and spring (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2010; Manning, 2007; iSpot).
