Branching of the wiry green or red and glossy Moraea gawleri flower stem spaces the 2 cm wide flowers well enough for all to catch some sun. The terminal flower cluster is roughly two-dimensional, which helps.

The flower held erectly, the tepal lobes sag around the six erect tips of the three forked style branches.

The narrow bud has two spathes firmly enclosing the corolla, the inner larger, the outer holding it all at the base (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2015; Manning, 2007; iNaturalist).
