Two narrow, leathery, leaf-like spathes envelop the Moraea tripetala flower base. The inner spathe is much taller than the outer one. The acutely pointed spathe tips in picture have turned red and brown as they dry. The inner one exceeding the flower in picture has a dry tip already.
The style branches over the corolla in picture follow the tepals outwards in their lower parts, lying upon them. The forked tips of the branches angle inwards, meeting each other (Manning, 2007; Manning and Goldblatt, 1997; iNaturalist).
