Shades of yellow on most parts of the iris-like Moraea gawleri flower is but one of the guises in which this species parades at bloomtime. Rounded or pointed tepal tips is a feature in which the species avails itself of both options in different plants. The spotted nectar guides at the bases of the three lower, bigger tepals are in picture not clearly delineated. The inner tepals and the erect, pointy style branches over the centre are slightly paler than the big tepals, but not clearly differently coloured. The flower base is dark green and cylindrical below the colourful parts.
Some floral dimensions are: outer tepals 18 mm to 25 mm long by 6 mm to 14 mm wide, inner tepals 10 mm to 20 mm long.
The pollen of this Moraea is yellow or red (Curtis-Scott, et al, 2020; Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2015; iNaturalist).
