Seen from below, the three spreading white tepals of a Moraea modesta flower have conspicuous parallel vein lines in purple across the limbs. On some flowers these lines are also seen on the upper surfaces but fainter.
This plant was photographed in November in the Mkhomazi Wilderness Area in the KwaZulu-Natal Drakensberg (Pooley, 1998; iNaturalist; iSpot).
