Oxalis ambigua is a small, deciduous perennial growing from a hard, dark brown corm.
The species distribution is in the Northern Cape and Western Cape, particularly the Namaqua Klipkoppe and the Gifberg.
The plants grow on sandy flats and slopes. It is not considered to be threatened in its habitat early in the twenty first century (Le Roux, et al, 2005; iNaturalist; http://redlist.sanbi.org).
