The bushman candle, as Monsonia camdeboense is commonly known, belongs to the Geraniaceae family. They are spiny shrublets with thick, fleshy stems and produce pale creamy-yellow flowers.
Several of the Monsonia species tend to branch just above ground level. The branches may be erect or prostrate. This species has a semi-erect growth form and occurs in the Eastern and Northern Cape provinces.
The leaves are hairless, green and folded in along their midribs (Manning, 2009; www.plantzafrica.com).
