The flower of Monsonia lavrani is radially symmetrical, five petalled and bright pink. The petals are roughly triangular with flat tips, rounded at the corners and slightly irregular margins to go with their crinkly or wavy surfaces. A spreading cluster of 15 stamens in the centre presents yellow anthers above the corolla surface, ensuring that no serious aspirant pollinator will miss them. These flowers were seen in July, midwinter (iSpot; www.bihrmann.com).
